Money minting while you sleep
I have been looking for ways to monetize my blog and I came across some options which I wanted to share with you
- Blogging ads (url: http://www.bloggingads.com)
I was looking for a place to sign-up and finally I got it, I was supposed to click on the link 'Bloggers' on the top right corner of the home page. After the quick registration process(which also requires you to have a PayPal account) I was told that my blog do not have the 'REQUIRED PAGE RANKING' . Good !
What I gained ?
Due to the requirement mentioned in this site, I got myself registered in PayPal and its free and you could link your bank account to it(Some one earlier told me that its mandatory to have a credit card before you could register in PayPal) - PayPerPost (url : https://payperpost.com/)
Although this site had a more intuitive user interface, after the entire process, it just told me 'SOMEBODY' will contact me with a prospect ad. Wow ! And I was supposed to wait.
What I gained ?
Made me think about Adsense more - Adsense(url : https://www.google.com/adsense )
Although I did hear about Adsense and also that my cousin still gets a decent 300$ + check from Google (thanks to adsense) was more than ringing bells in my ears. I decided to go for it. The result of which you can see in my blog( on the right) The process is pretty simple.- Just log in to adsense site with your google account and create a free adsense account.
- Fill in the details(The house address needs to be correct)
- Go to 'My ads' and create a new ad
- Paste the code in your blog/ site
- Just log in to adsense site with your google account and create a free adsense account.

A small gift for my mom
Its been some days, since my mom wanted to write about one of her favorite pass times: Gardening.
She told this to me, and I just said Okay. Some days later, I found her meticulously(since she was new to blogging) going though the cool blogger help, page by page. This really did catch my attention and I asked her what she was up to. She told me she wanted to create a blog, to blog about gardening and was trying to learn about it.
I loved her enthusiasm, in learning new things, and sat with her. She created the blog and added a new post. Since she had selected one of the templates provided by blogger, it kind of looked dull, atleast not at all apt for a gardening blog, I thought, and I told her, of the same. She too liked the idea, and so I decided to chip in, to redesign her blog design.
So as mentioned in one of my previous posts(Changing blogger template) I started with freecsstemplates.org. Got a nice template, Nature's charm , hacked it a little bit to suit her needs and uploaded it to blogger.
But here comes the problem.
The navbar problem
(Due to navbar present at the top every blog, the menu contents has shifted downwards , around 5o pixels or so , which really spoils the aesthetics of the blog)So I decided to remove the navbar. After a bit of research(Googling around), I found that removing navbar DOES NOT violate (citation needed) TOS with Google.
You can hide the navbar, by inserting this code in the style sheet part(css part) of your page
#navbar-iframe {height:0px; display:none;}
Even though you remove the navbar, the content seems to be around 50 pixel, shifted downwards.
So in the template, I added the following code inside the body { }
top: -50px;
position: relative;
position: relative;
This effectively shifts the contents upwards. Since the problem was solved, I decided to add the navbar back again - as a small token of thanks to Google.
So everything is cool, and my mother has a really cool, sleek blog which I am proud to announce to you.
So guys do check out this cool new blog, and I wish my mother all the best for this new endeavor :)
New Orange Flavor, Served
Hi friends,
Thanks for checking out this blog again. As you can see, the blog has undergone a complete revamp in its style and design. Hope all of you, my friends, like the new interface and design. I got the template from Free CSS templates site. If you would like to try out the same, thats the topic for my next post. So do watch out for my next post, as I bet you would find it a bit interesting( to hack out, your own design)
The name of the template is hot-spring, I hacked it a bit changed the style and applied it to my blog. And viola!! Here comes the new design. Hope you guys liked it.
As regular visitors this blog, you could see that the design was not a big bang!, it was indeed a gradual evolution of the design in the past 4-5 days. Today I finally added the archives section as well as the comments section, completing almost 90 % of the job(I guess, keeping fingers crossed)
I have had seen some problems when viewing the page in resolutions less than 1024 x 768. Also konqueror has some problems with the fonts in the side bar. So as the great beta-testers of this test, if you notice anything unusual in your browser please do mention it as comment to this post. You could also post anything that you liked/disliked about the new design(bricks and boutiques are both welcome !)
Thanks for being with me, during this cool change.
with regards
Justin

A great b'day gift from my dad
Last Sunday me, Swaroop and my dad went for one of the coolest shopping days of my life and at the end of it, I had a cool Kodak easy share c653 camera in my hand. It was one awesome camera. And as a special offer, we managed to get some really cool goodies.
- A really cool superb battery charger
- 1 GB memory card
It has some really cool features like
- Anti blur
- Auto focus
- Color Adjustment
- Auto Flash
- Fast mode, "moving fan" shot, seems as though you have taken it while the fan was still
- Video mode with support for 640 x 480 resolution
All these and much more. And this was one my dream come true.
More than taking shots for nice occasions, one of the major reasons for getting a camera was something else.
I do a lot of (in my view, i feel that way)networking and installation(linux) stuff. And I badly needed some way to document all those. Or if I got a new computer(Old computer from someone-for me, its new) and wanted to get a snapshot of its antique motherboard, or some other hard to find feature, there was no way I could get pics of them. Note that for old computer parts and no so popular companies, searching for them on the net may not be such a great idea after all.
But now having a digital camera, it feels really good. Hopefully, all these documentation stuff, might be useful to someone someday. But I bet its surely going to be useful for me.
The charge for the battery that they give withe the camera is depleted and I have put the batteries for charging, and after that, it is PHOTO TIME !!!. And I hope to clean up my site and upload some cool photos to my site pretty soon. Also you guys too could expect some work of art in this blog soon ;)
Things on which I will blog tomorrow include:
Amrith's linux install
More experiences with c653 easy share
Visitors from my native place
A cool voice chat with my brother

Give me the report
Its been more than a month since i registered with google analytics. I checked it regularly for the first 3-4 days and I could see no result and I dropped out of it and moved on to statcounter.
What these sites do is to present information about the users who visit your blog/site. First you have to register in one of these sites. Then have to just insert the code that they provide in your site/blog and you get detailed summary about your visitors including the country they come from, their lenght of visit and so on. This is really useful especially if you have ads in your page that target a specific audience like AdSense.
But just today I just logged in to google analytics and here there was the complete summary for all visits in the past 1month and I have 3 visit from America too(see the pic on the top) It was really cool to see analytics in action.
Google gear
I stumbled across this utility called Google gear. It is suppposed to make our offline experience painless. But there are other things like webaroo and so on. But from what I understand google gear offers you api and code to make you web apps add the 'work offline' feature. This is really cool, becuase, very few web apps has this feature. I am not sure if google gear could be used to download and view web pages as such. Anyway I will look more into it soon
Digital Camera
Today I and my friend Swaroop, went to QRS( an electronic app shop in our town) to inquire about the price of digital camera. If everything goes as planned I will having a digital camera soon in my hands as promised by my dad, a couple of months back.
